Learning this popular instrument will help you recognize melodic phrasing and expression. Although it is often synonymous with jazz, the adaptability of this instrument opens up your musical repertoire into different genres such as blues and classical.
Indeed it can! Many students will take saxophone lessons to supplement their band music class in Junior High and High School. You will improve by taking extra lessons with our teachers.
Students are usually around the age of 12 when they learn to play. Many, though, will have previous experience in another instrument such as piano or guitar, drums or singing, making their transition easier. However, it doesn’t matter how old you are; you can still learn and play the sax! With our teachers, you’ll learn the sax at a pace that works for you.
There are four main saxophones available: alto (the most common beginner instrument), tenor (common choice, especially in jazz), soprano (highest pitched) and baritone (lowest pitch). We can explain the differences of each one in more detail in our lessons.
